CLACSO in Women's Month 2025

As every year, for the Latin American Council of Social Sciences, March is Women's Month. With this objective, activities, publications, outreach programs, and research proposals are renewed and expanded to strengthen the actions we carry out throughout the year, with "Rights, Violence, and Gender Equality" being one of the main themes of our Platforms for Social Dialogue.

-During March, CLACSO will launch the ESI Library: Building the Future with Sexual Education Government Archive Argentina 2006–2023.

50 training scholarships for women and gender dissidents

As part of Women's Month, CLACSO will award 50 full scholarships training for Higher Education Diplomas y Virtual seminars to women and dissidents from Latin America and the Caribbean who participate in associated centers, social organizations, unions, parties or movements fighting for gender equality, Human Rights, feminism and social justice in our region.

Dialogues on feminist foreign policy
How can a feminist perspective be incorporated into the international arena, specifically from a Global South perspective? How can power structures be challenged in this field to confront the logic of domination that produces gender and social inequalities? These questions guided the meeting held at the CLACSO headquarters, organized by the Latin American Council of Social Sciences, Feminists Without Borders, IESCODE-UNPAZ, and the Feminist Foreign Policy Collaborative.

Virtual discussion “Feminisms in Latin America and the Caribbean in times of fundamentalism and authoritarianism"
This discussion arose from the dialogue and collaboration among various Working Groups focused on gender, feminism, and violence, to foster debate and collective reflection on authoritarianism and fundamentalism in the region, and as a special activity for the month of March. The panel discussion, led by Karina Batthyány, Graciela Di Marco, Alicia Girón, and Juliana Díaz Lozano, and moderated by Natalia Quiroga Díaz, was enriched by the participation of the general public and members of the working groups, broadening the discussion and facilitating a powerful exchange.

Observatory of Feminist Movements in Latin America and the Caribbean
El CLACSO Working Group “Feminisms, resistances and emancipation” The Observatory of Feminist Movements in Latin America and the Caribbean was developed to monitor, analyze, and raise awareness of the actions and demands of feminist movements in the region. This observatory provides valuable information on the inequalities and exclusions affecting women and gender minorities, and also aims to track the debates and actions being promoted in different countries regarding public policies aimed at advancing gender justice.

-They were published 6 Bulletins developed by Working Groups focused on thinking about: Emotions and the body as territories for the reproduction of life; obstetric violence, the elections and the feminist agenda, IVE, ILE and abortion, The genealogies of work on women and gender at CLACSO y Feminisms in the region resist the anti-rights wave.

Seminar-workshop: Questioning Motherhood and Fatherhood in Latin America Today and Extension Course: Introduction to the field of critical studies on motherhood and fatherhood
This activity organized by the CLACSO Working Group “Critical Studies on Motherhood and Fatherhood” It was oriented towards discussing and making visible the production of knowledge and interventions in this field in Latin America and the Caribbean, observing them from a critical, contextual and intersectional perspective and emphasizing their connection with social changes related to family, gender, childhood, reproduction, work, cities and other aspects.

-Publication of the book Feminist perspectives on cultural memory processes in Latin America, organized by the CLACSO Working Group “Network of gender, feminisms and memories”.

Research for advocacy and systemic change
El CLACSO Working Group “Borders, regionalization and globalization”This book presents a mini-guide on decolonial thought and applied research for political change in the field of international cooperation and humanitarian assistance. The material focuses on summarizing certain Latin American critical theories, especially Black feminism and critical geopolitical studies, for international cooperation workers from different regions of the world.

Care and social security policies
El CLACSO Working Group “Care and Gender” It is part of the Inter-American Conference on Social Security (CISS) launched by the National Institute for Women of Mexico (INMUJERES) in partnership with UN Women to address the burden of care that hinders women's economic opportunities, making an urgent appeal to governments, international organizations, civil society, private initiatives, philanthropic organizations and other strategic partners.

-Research calls

Presentation of the book Gender inequalities and violence in Latin America and the Caribbean.

-Publication of the book Multiple forms of violence in Latin America and the Caribbean: Gender, dissidence, and otherness, product of the homonymous Call.

-Publication of the book Pension systems with a gender perspective: Progress and setbacks in Latin America and the Caribbean, a product of the Joint Research Call with the Inter-American Conference on Social Security (CISS).

-Publication of the book Feminisms, work and trade union action. Dialogues between Europe and Latin America, result of the call for essays promoted together with the Institute of Social Studies in Contexts of Inequalities of the National University of José C. Paz (IESCODE-UNPAZ), the University Institute of Women's Studies of the University of Valencia and the CLACSO Working Group “What work for what future?”.

-Within the framework of the Call for Proposals "Democracy, Human Rights and Peace: Crossroads and Challenges from the State and Social Organizations", the Policy and Lines of Action (PLA) document was published «All memory is life: activation of the archive of prostitutes against the limits of democracy» brasileira, as well as a audiovisual product conducted by the research team.

-Podcast presentation "Women of many waters. The Amazon rainforest has a woman's voice.", carried out within the framework of the Research Call "Recovery with gender equality and climate justice".
