South-South Programme

Building bridges of exchange in the South, between Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.

An inter-regional academic platform for the exchange and discussion of contemporary social issues of common interest in Africa, Latin America, Asia, and the Middle East. It aims to deepen South-South academic cooperation and consolidate a network comprised of a new generation of researchers from the Global South, adopting a critical and comparative perspective.

Lines of action

  • Organization of schools, workshops, scholarships, as well as seminars, forums and international conferences relevant to South-South academic cooperation
  • Creation of the South-South University, a tricontinental project that is emerging as a platform for exchange and academic training with the perspective of the Global South.
  • Production of academic knowledge relevant to public policies.
  • To deepen cooperation and exchange links with the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA), the Arab Council of Social Sciences (ACSS), the International Development Economics Associates (IDEAs) network, UNESCO's MOST Programme, the Future Earth Research Platform (ICSS), among many other institutions.
