The general objective of the project The Social Sciences and the Webs of Inequality in Latin America and the Caribbean: Platforms for Social Dialogue It is to achieve the production of evidence-based, critical, situated knowledge with a high impact on policy definition, public opinion formation and the positive transformation of the living conditions of the most impoverished, oppressed and discriminated populations.
This overall objective will be achieved through the implementation of a mechanism called Platforms for Social Dialogue (hereinafter, PDS). This consists of a collaborative, multi-stakeholder workspace implemented to promote exchanges, address priority social issues, and contribute to the development of common regional agendas that have a demonstrable impact on improving the quality of life of the most marginalized sectors of society.
The PDS will address the following strategic areas:
- Common knowledge: technologies, artificial intelligence, open science and territorial knowledge
- Democracies in dispute: horizons, resistances and the construction of alternatives from the public and the common
- Social right to education, public policies and pedagogical alternatives
- Structural inequalities and redistributive justice in Latin America and the Caribbean
- Migration and human mobility: rights, displacement and disputed policies
- Social movements and activism in Latin America and the Caribbean: resistance, articulations and the construction of the commons
- Feminist thought and action: transformations for the sustainability of life, justice and peace
- Reconfigurations of work and production models: challenges for social justice and the sustainability of life
- Geopolitical reconfigurations and multilateralism in transformation: perspectives from the Global South
- Just transitions and contested sovereignties: towards sustainable and inclusive futures from the Global South
