The Gramscian concept of subalternity describes the condition of excluded groups who lack a voice in society and who are oppressed because of their gender, sexuality, or social class. The chapters in this volume reveal symbolic and material spaces of resistance for heterosexual, homosexual, and trans women on the various levels at which patriarchal violence manifests itself.
