From August 5 to 7, the writing workshop “Disputed borders"regarding the policy of lithium extraction and the global energy transition, a topic addressed by the CLACSO Working Group “Energy and Sustainable Development”which brings together specialists from different countries to analyze the political, social, and environmental dimensions of energy systems in Latin America. Organized from July 26 to 31, the XXXV Latin American Congress of Sociology “ Between polycrisis and alternatives: horizons of Latin American critical sociology ” called for reflection on a climate of times profoundly transformed by multiple and interdependent crises –political, economic, social, climatic, energy, ecological and geopolitical– that are rapidly reconfiguring life in our societies and putting sociological work under strain.

– Federal March in defense of the sovereignty of knowledge in Argentina
On Wednesday, August 12, demonstrations filled plazas, research centers, and universities across Argentina, in defense of knowledge sovereignty and the national technological system, which is suffering one of the worst attacks in its history under the neoliberal government of Javier Milei. CLACSO was present, with its Executive Director, Pablo Vommaro , among others, participating in the demonstration in the center of the Argentine capital.
The program for Wednesday, August 19, covers two of the axes of the Platforms for Social Dialogue that CLACSO is promoting for the coming years: “Just Transitions and Disputed Sovereignties: Towards Sustainable and Inclusive Futures from the Global South” and “Social Right to Education, Public Policies and Pedagogical Alternatives”
