Forever, Marielle Franco

A special program commemorating Marielle Franco , the Brazilian feminist leader assassinated on the night of March 14, 2018, in Rio de Janeiro, along with her driver, Anderson Gomes. Her legacy is celebrated by Karina Batthyány , Executive Director of CLACSO; Claudia Miranda , from the Carioca Network of Black Ethno-educators at the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Mônica Benício , Brazilian human rights activist and feminist, and Marielle Franco's partner; and Pablo Vommaro , Academic Director of CLACSO.
Karina Batthyány also referred to the signing by CLACSO with Anielle Franco , Minister of Racial Equality of the Brazilian Government, of a Cooperation Agreement to promote racial equality in Latin America and the Caribbean and to work with Africa . They were accompanied by Pablo Vommaro ; Yuri Silva , Director of Policies to Combat and Overcome Racism; Kátia Regis , General Coordinator of Racial Justice and the Fight Against Racism; and Iyaromi Ahualli , Head of the Division of the Coordination of Racial Justice and the Fight Against Racism.
Furthermore, as part of Women's Month, on Wednesday, March 6, CLACSO organized an in-person meeting in Buenos Aires to discuss gender and public policy . Participants included Karina Batthyány (Executive Director of CLACSO), Estela Díaz (Minister of Women, Gender Policies, and Sexual Diversity of the Province of Buenos Aires), and Verónica Gago (National University of San Martín, professor and researcher at CLACSO).
The program for Wednesday, March 13, covers two of the axes of the Platforms for Social Dialogue that CLACSO is promoting for the coming years: “Rights, violence and gender equality” and “ Democracy, human rights and peace ”.
