Special program remembering Marielle FrancoThe Brazilian feminist leader was murdered on the night of March 14, 2018, in Rio de Janeiro, along with her driver, Anderson Gomes. Her legacy is being honored. Karina Batthyány, Executive Director of CLACSO; Claudia miranda, from the Carioca Network of Black Ethno-educators, Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Monica Benicio, a Brazilian human rights activist and feminist, partner of Marielle Franco; and Pablo Vommaro, Academic Director of CLACSO.


Karina Batthyány He also referred to the signing by CLACSO with Anielle Franco, Minister of Racial Equality of the Government of Brazil, of a Cooperation agreement to promote racial equality in Latin America and the Caribbean and to work with AfricaThey were accompanied by Pablo Vommaro; Yuri Silva, Director of Policies to Combat and Overcome Racism; Kátia Regis, General Coordinator of Racial Justice and Combate ao Racismo; and Iyaromi Ahualli, Chefe de Divisão da Coordenação de Justiça Racial e Combate ao Racismo.


Furthermore, as part of Women's Month, on Wednesday, March 6, CLACSO organized an in-person meeting in Buenos Aires to work on Gender and public policiesParticipants: Karina Batthyány (Executive Director of CLACSO), Estela Díaz (Minister of Women, Gender Policies and Sexual Diversity of the province of Buenos Aires) and Veronica Gago (National University of San Martín, professor and researcher at CLACSO).


The program for Wednesday, March 13th, covers two of the main themes of the Platforms for Social Dialogue which CLACSO is promoting for the coming years: “Rights, violence and gender equality” and "Democracy, human rights and peace".
