Public Policies and Gender Justice

The course seeks to offer a comprehensive training space where the situations of structural and gender-specific inequality are analyzed from the provisions contained in the international order of the human rights of women and their approach from public policies.

The gender inequalities, the iniquities and situations that persist and that say respect for the autonomy of women in Latin America and the Caribbean, constitute situations of injustice, vulnerability of direitos and empacilhos for the full incorporation of women in their diversity in economic, social, cultural and political development. 

The States that support international conventions and agreements and the demands of the women's movements have prioritized the transversal incorporation of the gender approach in public policies. The incorporation of a gender perspective in public policies aims to raise awareness about and correct gender inequalities and iniquities and to promote the cultural change necessary to eliminate gender stereotypes.

The Gender Equality Report conducted in October 2013 by the World Economic Forum (WEF), qualifies 136 countries in their capacity to reduce gender inequalities considering four key areas of action: health and survival; educational achievements; Political participation and economic equality. The Report indicates that there are the greatest advances in terms of the reduction of gender inequality where there is greater parity of economic equality and political participation. Therefore, job insecurity, access problems and direct health, gender violence and poor political representation persist and evidence that the capacity of two States to reconstitute and guarantee the full exercise of two rights and the quality of life of women continues to be a challenge.

States have the obligation to observe, implement and provide compliance with the provisions contained in agreements, conventions, treaties and international resolutions that reconhecem and protect the human rights and cities of women.

It constitutes a challenge for the States, for the organizations that work on human rights and, mainly, on women's rights and for professionals who work in this field, to develop, implement, accompany and endorse public policies with cultural and territorial relevance that allow us to advance in gender equality and equity and how to meet the objectives purposes for the international community to fully reconfirm and guarantee the human rights of women.

By specializing in Public Policies and Gender Justice, FLACSO Brazil and CLACSO intend to continue offering a comprehensive space of theoretical and practical training that allows us to understand the situations of structural and gender-specific inequality, analyzing these inequalities based on the provisions contained in international regulations. human rights of women and studying their approach to public policies.

MAIN GOAL

The objective of Specialization is to carry out high-level training aimed at developing capacities for the formulation of management and the endorsement of public policies aimed at eradicating gender inequalities and iniquities.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

• Provide conceptual and theoretical tools that allow the identification of gender inequalities and inequalities, as well as their approach to conventions referred to women's rights.
• Introduce transversally in the teaching and research approach two courses to the complexity of situations of vulnerability and the direction of women in their diversity.
• Create capacities for the planning, accompaniment and evaluation of policies aimed at guaranteeing the human rights of men and women with emphasis on the assessment of results.
• Analyze the conventions, agreements and international resolutions that recognize and protect the rights of women and girls as well as their lifelong observance and compliance by the State.

The Specialization of the International Course is intended for graduates; post-graduation students; professors; activists and activists of union organizations, social movements and political parties; public officials and public officials; printing workers and workers; members and managers of non-governmental and professional organizations interested in social quests. A university diploma/graduation is required.

The Specialization in Public Policies and Gender Justice will last 12 months and for the certification to be necessary: ​​the realization of an international course, two virtual seminars eletivos of the curricular structure, a support office for the redaction of the final work and the elaboration of the work final.

The International Course will last 12 months and will require for its certification the completion and approval of a final project, as well as participation in at least 80% of the activities and tasks proposed by teachers.

The International Course Specialization will take place between April 2023 and March 2024.

The students of Specialization and the International Course receive the support of academic tutors who will accompany the realization of two virtual seminars and guide the production of the final work.

Once the seminars are completed, the students will have a period of four months to submit their final work. If you are pending the conclusion of credits, you will also have this deadline to fulfill them.

The International Course Specialization requires CLACSO and Flacso Brazil certificates.

The Specialization has a total workload of 360 hours and an International Course of 90 hours.

To register for a complete Specialization, you do not need to register separately for the International Course.

The virtual seminars will be offered in both Spanish and Portuguese. Likewise, the bibliography may be offered in the two official languages ​​of the course. As two students intervene in the discussion forums, they can also be used in different languages. The final monographic work may be in Spanish or Portuguese.
