Call for Papers: III Colloquium Central America in Debate. Violence, Past and Present

September 16 – 8:00 am – 5:00 pm CMT

📅 From August 6 to September 26

El Colloquium "Central America under debate" was born in 2020 in the Seminar on Central American Studies of the Center for Research on Latin America and the Caribbean (CIALC) from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, with the purpose of strengthening and disseminating research on the isthmus, a region still scarcely addressed by the social sciences. This space for exchange among Central Americanists yielded excellent results: it allowed for the updating, on equal terms, of academic research agendas and political and social intervention; the weaving and consolidation of networks among study groups—especially between Mexico and Argentina; the sharing of materials and resources; and support for the training of undergraduate and graduate students interested in the region.

This third edition adds to the organization the groups from Mexico, Costa Rica and Argentina articulated around the CLACSO Working Group on Violence in Central AmericaThe proposal is to broaden the call to academics, researchers, teachers and students from the region and dedicated to it, and also to encourage the participation of colleagues from the Southern Cone and other latitudes, regarding the problem of Central American violence.
