This panel proposes a reflection on the role of sexual dissidence in the production of critical thought in Latin America and the Caribbean. We are interested in examining how universities, activist organizations, and community projects participate in the generation, circulation, and legitimization of knowledge about gender and sexuality. Through four presentations, the panel analyzes the ways in which LGBTQ+ communities intervene in spaces institutionally recognized as knowledge producers, influencing research agendas, pedagogical practices, institutional policies, and public debates. In this way, it seeks to contribute to the understanding of the links between activism, knowledge production, and sexual citizenship in the region.
