Latin American Perspectives: A State of the Debate
Results of the call
The Executive Secretariat of CLACSO and Siglo XXI Editores México are launching a new publishing project that seeks to highlight the theoretical and methodological contributions of academics from Latin America and the Caribbean, reflecting the current state of debate in multiple fields of the Social Sciences and Humanities. Latin American Perspectives.
The call for proposals received over 100 projects, of which 40 were deemed admissible after an initial technical evaluation. A jury composed of members of CLACSO and Siglo XXI selected 7 exceptionally high-quality proposals, expanding the support that was originally planned for 5 volumes.
The criteria that justified this pre-selection were based on a gender balance (noted in the general index of the volumes), the focus on the axes suggested in the call, the unpublished and original nature of the proposals as well as the contribution to the field of knowledge through an interdisciplinary perspective, guaranteeing regional balance through the participation of researchers from CLACSO Member Centers from at least 10 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean and the expected potential impact at the academic and publishing level.
