Special: International Day of Care and Support

It is celebrated every October 29th to raise awareness about the importance of care work and its contribution to gender equality and sustainability. Participants include:

-Carolina Robino, Senior Program Specialist at the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) of Canada. Works in Montevideo, at the IDRC Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean.

-Katherina Cabrera, Peasant leader of the National Confederation of Rural Women (CONAMUCA) in the Dominican Republic

-Alma Colin From “Gender equity, citizenship, work and family” part of the “Weaving Care” Network in Mexico.

-Nora Goren, Coordinator of Strengthening and Articulation of CLACSO and professor at the National University of José C. Paz and the University of Buenos Aires of Argentina

-Gloria AmézquitaAcademic Director of CLACSO

-Karina Batthyány, UDELAR, former Executive Director of CLACSO

-Laura Pautassi, Principal Investigator of the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) of Argentina, chairs the Latin American Team for Justice and Gender (ELA).

The program for Wednesday, October 29th covers one of the main themes of the Platforms for Social Dialogue which CLACSO is promoting for the coming years: “Rights, violence and gender equality”
