To transform reality, it is essential to have powerful and plural critical theories and research methods.
The force of critical thinking in Latin America and the Caribbean is based on a deep and vast methodological tradition that was capable of amalgamating the advances of social sciences with a commitment to social change, to justice and equality.
The various research methods used by researchers in the area of Social Sciences constitute a fundamental instrument to testify and understand the injustices and social vulnerabilities that we experience in our people. Specialization continues and strengthens the track record of methodological rigor that critical research on our continent has had since its origins so that new generations can appropriate these methods and techniques and apply them creatively in the production of social research that contributes to academic debates. social change.
The objectives of the specialization and the international course:
- Provide a renewed panorama of the current methodological debates in social sciences for a critical approach to social research and the construction of knowledge in social sciences.
- Improve the ability of two students to formulate research projects.
- Update students' use of research skills and techniques, helping to improve the quality of their academic research.
The specialization of the international course is intended for undergraduate and postgraduate students in social sciences; Researchers in training and professors interested in deepening and updating their knowledge and methodological skills for social research.
The specialization will last for one year and will require its accreditation to carry out the international course “Methodological Problems and Construction of Scientific-Social Knowledge”, two mandatory offices, two optional seminars on the curricular offer and the preparation of a course conclusion project. The international course will last 12 months and require participation in discussion forums for your credentials. The students will receive support from tutors who will accompany them and conduct two virtual seminars and guide them in carrying out their final work. Once two seminars have been completed, the students will have a period of four months to deliver their final work. If this is pending the conclusion of a credit, there will also be the aforementioned deadline to complement the due course.
Methodological problems and construction of scientific-social knowledge
Summary: This curricular unit aims to take a contemporary view of the methodological debates in social sciences and deepen the methods and techniques most used in this scientific area. For this purpose, a group of specialists was convened to contribute their knowledge, reflections and experiences on each of these topics, which will subsequently be systematically addressed in the Specialization Seminars.

Summary: We have presented the different research methods in Social Sciences and the general principles that guide social research. Types of designs: according to the objectives, according to the temporality, according to the source of data, according to the qualitative or quantitative strategy and according to the level of experimentation.

The certification of the Specialization and the International Course will be carried out by the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (Flacso Brasil) and the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (Clacso).
The International Course Specialization is intended for undergraduate and post-graduation students; teachers of all ages; activists and activists of union organizations, social movements and political parties; public officials and legal area agents, day laborers, communicators and press consultants; members and leaders of non-governmental and professional organizations interested in the matter.

Registration will be open between December 12 and April 5.
Upon completion of the registration process, you will receive confirmation by e-mail.
If any of the mandatory training sessions are not completed, in all cases, an additional amount must be paid to recover the aforementioned credit.
If a student decides not to take the Specialization or International Course before its formal start, he or she may request a refund of the registration fee. CLACSO will calculate the amount equivalent to 10% of the administrative allowances.
Exceptional criteria: In exceptional cases, in the first two months of the start of the specialization, someone may request to leave the tour and resume it the following year. In all cases, the reasons justifying the request must be presented in writing. Two months after the start of the course, it will no longer be possible to request this procedure.
If a student decides not to take the International or Specialization Course before its formal start, he or she may request a refund of the registration fee. CLACSO will calculate the amount equivalent to 10% of the administrative allowances. After all, no refund will be made.
The classrooms will start in April 2022 and will be completed in March 2023.
All registered participants will receive the necessary instructions to access the classrooms, bibliography and discussion forums through the CLACSO Virtual Training Space.
The navigation access to the Virtual Training Space happens in a simple and clear way. In any case, a technical and academic support team will always be at your disposal.
You must certify the International Course, two (2) eletive Virtuais Seminars, a support office to carry out the final work and carry out the final work.
To obtain the title of the Specialization, you must conclude a final monographic work. The support office for the completion of final work is required and will assist you in the process.
You must participate in the classrooms and activities proposed by the teachers and do the final monographic work.
However, the International Course Specialization requires certificates for Flacso Brazil and CLACSO.
The specialization has a total workload of 360 hours and an international course of 90 hours.
The submission of the declaration of conclusion will be done digitally and is completely free.

The Specialization in the International Course requires credentials from Flacso Brazil and CLACSO.
