Malvinas: a just regional cause

 Malvinas: a just regional cause

Compiled by Daniel Filmus

Published by CLACSO and the publishing house of the Honorable Chamber of Deputies of the Argentine Nation, in the prologue Karina Batthyány, Executive Secretary of CLACSO, assures that the book “aspires to be a contribution to thinking about and building arguments around the Malvinas problem from an integral and regional perspective, within the framework of a claim that all Latin Americans who fight for the sovereignty of our region recognize as a just cause: the full restitution of sovereignty over that territory to the South American country.”

For Daniel Filmus, former congressman and current Secretary for the Malvinas, Antarctica, and the South Atlantic, “without a doubt, diplomatic channels and firm political conviction will bring this just claim to fruition. Meanwhile, I echo the words of Nobel Peace Prize laureate Adolfo Pérez Esquivel, who affirms that we must not despair, we must continue building, we must remain strong and hopeful, because, sooner or later, peace will triumph over hatred, and justice will prevail.”

They contribute their vision on the issue in “Malvinas: a just regional cause”: Carla Pitiot, Armando Abruza, Juan Gabriel Tokatlian, Uriel Erlich, Bernard McGuirk, Alicia Castro, Gerónimo de Sierra, Ernesto Alonso, Cecilia Moreau, Ricardo Alfonsín, Fernando Pino Solanas, Jorge Argüello, Adolfo Pérez Esquivel and Agustín Rossi.

The fifteen articles that make up this book were originally dissertations that were part of the Malvinas Forum and the struggles for sovereignty in Latin America within the framework of the 8th Conference of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences and the First World Forum of Critical Thought in November 2018.
