 The 10.134 kilometers across China

To mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Argentina, the book launch and seminar "10.134 Kilometers Through China" were held on March 1 at the China Foreign Languages Office. The event was also part of the activities of the 5th China-Latin America Dialogue Forum of Civilizations. The event was introduced by Wang Tao, president of Chaohua Publishing House, and featured the participation of Fernanda Pampín, Director of Editorial Production at CLACSO.

According to Pampín, “the publication of this book has provided a wider range of ideological resources and a space for discussion for descendants of Chinese immigrants in Argentina, and even in Latin America and the Caribbean, to reflect on issues of identity. It is a good demonstration of the strong resilience of typical immigrant families in Latin America and their heritage and perseverance of identity, highlighting the possibility of multiple connections between China and Argentina, and the creative approach based on mutual aid and cooperation.”

Also in attendance were Lu Cairong, deputy director of the Foreign Languages Bureau of China, Niu Wangdao, ambassador of Argentina to China, and Qiu Xiaoqi, special representative of the Chinese Government for Latin American affairs.

Lu Cairong highlighted that China and Argentina have a long history of friendship, and that both countries are very complementary, with fruitful cooperation and exchanges in the fields of culture, science and technology, and education in recent years.

Niu Wangdao noted that the book "10.134 Kilometers Across China" is an excellent illustration of the deep friendship between the people of China and Argentina, beyond distance, language barriers, and cultural differences, and also highlights the great potential of both countries to further deepen their mutual understanding and trust.
