"The University is not the problem, it is part of the solution."

Just like on April 23, public universities in Argentina mobilized again across the country on Wednesday, October 2, under the slogan «The university is not the problem, it is part of the solution«, in rejection of the defunding of public universities, the deterioration of salaries for teachers and non-teaching staff, and the veto by President Javier Milei of the University Financing Law voted by both chambers of the National Congress.

The Federal University March, held in cities throughout the country with its epicenter in the Argentine capital, was convened by the entire university community: the University Union Front, the Argentine University Federation (FUA), the National Interuniversity Council (CIN), with the support of the CGT, the CTA of Workers, the Autonomous CTA, student, political and social organizations.

The University Funding Law stipulated a budget update and salary adjustments in line with inflation. The National Congress had the opportunity to override the Executive Branch's veto and ratify the law with a two-thirds majority, but the government secured more than a third of the votes cast at the October 9th session, ignoring the calls for a strong and fair defense of public universities in Argentina.
