From the Monroe Doctrine to the Trump Corollary

The CLACSO Working Group “ Imperialism, Neocolonialism and Intervention Policies ” and the Research Center of the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Panama invited the discussion “ From the Monroe Doctrine to the Trump Corollary: history and current state of US interventionism ” on Friday, June 26.

From the formulation of the Monroe-Adams Doctrine to the present day, US interventionism in the region has gone through several stages, each defined by specific circumstances, objectives, actors, and narratives. This webinar proposes to analyze its continuities, but also its mutations over time.

The speakers based their arguments on articles from the book " The Monroe Doctrine, the Trump Corollary and the consequences for Latin America and Panama " compiled by Olmedo Beluche and Abdiel Rodríguez Reyes and on research perspectives proposed by the CLACSO Working Group "Imperialism, neocolonialism and intervention policies".
