Call for research on childhood and adolescence in the digital world
The National Secretariat for Children, Adolescents and Families of Argentina (SENAF) of the Ministry of Social Development and the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO) are opening a new call for teams to investigate: “Children and adolescents in the digital world: characteristics, trends and challenges during and after the pandemic.”
The expansion and deepening of the digital world and the new technological dynamics of information and communication have modified and transformed forms of intra- and intergenerational sociability, modes of work and production, educational experiences, and processes of identity and subjectivation. In this sense, there has been a growth in the use of digital platforms in various spheres, producing material and subjective reconfigurations that shape the lives of children and adolescents. The Covid-19 pandemic marked a turning point in the digitization process, amplifying, deepening, and accelerating these experiences, for example, in the educational sphere and in the affective and relational dimensions.
This call seeks research projects that explore questions addressing the risks and dilemmas that children and adolescents may experience in the digital age, as well as producing knowledge about their productions, how they socialize and build relationships, the development of their creativity, and their participation in these digital spaces; in other words, projects that contribute to understanding digital culture in its connection with childhood and adolescence.
Requirements
The call is aimed at teams from Argentina, or those who have Argentina as a study experience, provided that the person responsible for the project resides in Argentina.
Teams wishing to apply must be mixed, with up to 5 people, made up of researchers with experience in the topics of the call and members of social organizations that work on issues related to the digital world in relation to girls, boys and adolescents.
Likewise, it is expected that the investigations will incorporate the leading role, voices and experiences of girls, boys and adolescents in the most direct and least mediated way possible and with a federal character and with regional representation.
Winning proposals
Each winning proposal will receive a financial amount to support the research and will be accompanied by a tutor, assigned by CLACSO in agreement with SENAF, who will follow the process of their research and results.
Likewise, the final products will be published by CLACSO and SENAF in print and/or digital media, with the aim of complying with the principles of open science and open access to knowledge.

Report due: September 2022
Project implementation: October 2022 to July 2023
Final report submission: July 29, 2023
The results will be published on the CLACSO and SENAF websites. The winners will be contacted by email.
