Andean Agroecology Community of Practice

The Training and Research Program in Agroecology, jointly promoted by CLACSO and the McKnight Foundation, participates in the Andean Agroecology Community of Practice in the city of Quito, Ecuador.

This is a collaborative space for exchanging and sharing experiences with more than 20 organizations working in agroecology in the Andean region. Within this framework, the results of the last four years, summarized in the book "Agroecology in Andean Systems," are presented, and the new project of the Program (2022-2025) is launched.

Participating in this meeting are Pablo Vommaro, Director of Research at CLACSO, and Karina Bidaseca, Program Coordinator, along with scholarship recipients, tutors and other members of the Program.

The “Research and Training Program in Andean Agroecological Systems,” a joint initiative of the McKnight Foundation and CLACSO, aims to promote knowledge, training, and participatory research on family farming practices. This is achieved through the integration of agroecological principles into agricultural and systems management in the high Andes of Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia (above 2.500 meters above sea level), working with small-scale farmers. Part of this partnership involves a Community of Practice, a space for exchange and peer learning among members of the various programs that comprise this community. Its purpose is to share research results, reflect, learn, and identify opportunities and synergies among the different programs and projects.
