CLACSO and the Southern Eco-social Pact

Between June 29 and July 2, the World People's Summit, "Co-creating a New Eco-Social World: Leaving No One Behind," took place. It was promoted by... UNRISD (United Nations Research Institute for Social Development) and by the International Federation of Social Workers (HTE), had the support of more than twenty allied organizations with a presence in all regions of the world, including CLACSO.
CLACSO was one of the allies and participants of this Summit, organizing and facilitating two of its central activities. The first was a Conference by the Executive Director of CLACSO, Karina BatthyányThe conference, which focuses on care and the centrality of life as fundamental pillars of a new eco-social world, can be viewed online. here..
The second main activity was the Panel 'Towards an eco-social transition in Latin America', which was attended by Breno Bringel, Enrique Viale, Esperanza Martínez y Miriam Lang, all of them prominent activists and academics from our region and members and promoters of the Southern Ecosocial Pact, which CLACSO supports. One of the results of the Summit is the People's Charter for an Eco-social World, an initial document that seeks to influence international policy, while continuing to support and promote an eco-social transformation from the peoples, territories and communities.
