CLACSO and UNESCO strengthen ties

CLACSO Executive Secretary Karina Batthyány held a meeting on Friday, June 28 in Paris with John Crowley, Director of Research , Public Policy and Foresight of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization – UNESCO, and with Pedro Manuel Monreal González, responsible for Research, Academic Associations and MOST Schools.

“It was a very productive meeting; we exchanged different ideas in a climate of great collaboration and joint work, which, we reaffirm, remains a priority for us,” Batthyány emphasized.

Among other points, John Crowley proposed to continue and deepen the four lines of collaboration between UNESCO and the Latin American Council of Social Sciences: Courses, including the MOST-MOOC (Massive Online Open Course); Humanities area; International networking work, highlighting the joint work of CLACSO with the Arab Council; Inequalities in Latin America and the Caribbean, a topic already addressed on May 6 in Montevideo on the occasion of CLACSO's presence at the meeting of the Academic Council of the UNESCO MOOC.

Finally, Batthyány and Crowley agreed to emphasize the issue of scientific evaluation, the construction of alternatives, and open access.
