First Research Meeting for Indigenous Students: “New Weavers in Research”

September 16 All day

September 16, 2026 | In-person format

Within the framework of the project “Weaving an ecosystem of indigenous research: towards new academic relationships with indigenous peoples based on epistemic justice and equity in Abya Yala” , the first meeting of this cycle of dialogues aimed at indigenous students will be held.

The initiative arose from concerns expressed by Indigenous students and the support of the Office of Indigenous Peoples, the Institute of National Studies, and collaborating organizations. The meeting aims to further strengthen the links between academia and Indigenous epistemologies through a space for encounter, listening, and horizontal collaboration.

The inaugural discussion aims to open a dialogue on research practices, the strengthening of Indigenous epistemologies and knowledge systems, and the challenges faced by Indigenous students in academic settings. While this first session will be held in person as a community gathering, the series will continue in the following months through virtual meetings with the CLACSO Working Group.
