Information Science is an interdisciplinary field dedicated to the study of information in its various forms, as well as the objects, infrastructures, and practices that enable its organization, management, and circulation in both analog and digital environments. Within this field—which is internationally established and boasts strong academic development in Europe and North America—new lines of research and training are emerging, linked to scientific information infrastructures and open data analysis. In this context, the Diploma in Social Sciences of Information and Open Data Analysis (CI-DATA) aims to offer innovative training that integrates traditions such as bibliometrics, the sociology of science, communication studies, and the social studies of science and technology. From a perspective specific to the social sciences, and drawing on the tradition of knowledge circulation studies at CECIC, the proposal addresses the critical study of digital infrastructures, platforms and technologies for managing scientific information, as well as methodologies for analyzing large volumes of open data, contributing to the training of professionals capable of interpreting, managing and producing knowledge in a context marked by the expansion of open science and the growing centrality of data in research and in public and private decision-making.

Curriculum proposal and timetable
The curriculum is designed to integrate technical skills (data management, analysis, and interpretation) with analytical abilities, knowledge of ethical standards, and an understanding of the social context of scientific information and open digital infrastructures. The program is organized into seven modules. Each module has a corresponding schedule for both synchronous and asynchronous learning. Each module is assessed through a final project—a practical exercise—as determined by the teaching team. Individuals who meet the same admission requirements for the diploma program (temporary students) may take the modules independently.
