CSW70 Side Event: “Addressing structural barriers to care as a human right”

Care as a human right faces major obstacles in Latin America, which perpetuates inequality, hinders the necessary cultural transformation, and obstructs the progress of women's rights.To discuss this urgent issue, we invite you to participate in the CSW70 side event: "Addressing structural barriers to care as a human right".

This space aims to promote collective reflection to design and implement effective strategies that guarantee the right to care and contribute to the advancement of the rights of all women.

Panelists:

  • Silvia Soler Casellas: Interim Director of the Simone de Beauvoir Leadership Institute AC; Master of Science in Anthropology from the Autonomous Metropolitan University; Social and Cultural Anthropologist from the
    Autonomous University of Barcelona. Her research interests throughout her academic and professional experience include feminist theory, affect and emotions, gender, the body, and sexuality. She has participated in forums, working groups, courses, and workshops to discuss the phenomenon of sex work in the context of Spain.
  • Nashelli Noriega Izquierdo: Coordinator of Feminisms and Gender Justice, OXFAM. Specialist in Gender in Economics from UNAM and Master in Development Management from Ruhr University in Germany and Bachelor in International Relations from the Autonomous University of Puebla. Focused on issues of inequality, gender and international cooperation, with multilateral experience and an intercultural approach.
  • Nora Goren, Coordinator of the Articulation and Formalization Area of ​​CLACSO, Director of IESCODE-UNPAZ and of the Master's Program in Public Policy and Feminisms; Full Professor at UNPAZ and Associate Professor at UNAJ. Coordinator of the CLACSO Working Group "What Work for What Future?" PhD from the National University of Buenos Aires, Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, UBA. Master's in Social Sciences of Labor, UBA, and Bachelor's degree in Sociology from UBA. Her academic work includes directing research projects on socio-labor issues, inequalities, and public policy with a cross-cutting gender approach at the national and international levels, and compiling books on the subject.
  • Evyn Papworth, A political analyst with the International Peace Institute's (IPI) Women, Peace and Security program, she holds a Master's degree in Women, Peace and Security from the London School of Economics, where she received the award for best overall performance in her graduating class. Her dissertation focused on reproductive violence against women combatants and reparations law in Colombia. Before joining IPI, she was a program associate at Creative Associates International, where she worked on projects in Central America. Her previous experience also includes research assistance at IPI as a former fellow and consultant with WPS.
