In a context of profound changes and disputes surrounding the future of higher education, this event aims to create a space for collective reflection on the main challenges facing universities today in Latin America and the Caribbean. Drawing on diverse national and regional experiences, the meeting will address the impact of public defunding and the commodification of education, as well as the growing questioning of the university's social role and public relevance.

There will also be reflection on the pedagogical transformations accelerated by the pandemic and the expansion of virtuality, along with the effects of the massive circulation of information in digital environments on teaching and learning processes.

The debate will focus on the offensive by conservative and libertarian sectors against the Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts, and on the challenges posed by the irruption of artificial intelligence in the processes of research, intellectual production and teaching.

In light of this scenario, the activity will seek to share strategies, tools and proposals to defend the public university, strengthen critical thinking and build alternatives to current regressive trends.
