Doctoral Summer School “Contested Democracies at the Crossroads: Structures, Actors, Challenges”

La Södertörn University It will host the Doctoral Summer School “Contested Democracies at the Crossroads: Structures, Actors, Challenges”, an international academic space focused on reflecting on contemporary transformations of democracy and processes of autocratization on a global scale.

For five days, doctoral students and specialists will address different dimensions of current democracies, analyzing how new forms of political action, social organization and citizen participation are configured, as well as the impact of these dynamics on political institutions.

The program proposes an interdisciplinary perspective focused on themes such as the tensions of contemporary democracy, changes in political structures and discourses, illiberal countermovements, the resilience of civil society, and the growing fragmentation of public space.

The activity will take place in an environment of international academic exchange, promoting dialogue between young researchers and leading figures in the field of social sciences.
