The CLACSO Working Group on Feminism, Resistance and Emancipation of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences invites you to the third meeting of the cycle “Feminist Dialogues in the Regional Context”, a space for collective reflection on the rise of right-wing governments in Latin America and the Caribbean and the intensification of authoritarian policies that directly impact the lives of women in the region.
The cycle emerges against a backdrop marked by the resurgence of conservative discourses and policies, the onslaught of US imperialism, and the growing institutional violence towards broad sectors of the Latin American and Caribbean migrant population, both in transit and residing in the United States.
This third dialogue, of an open nature, proposes a collective exercise to develop analytical responses and political positions in the face of the current situation, focusing on the situation of Latin American, Central American and Caribbean women.
Guiding questions
- How is the authoritarian drift in the region interpreted, and what is its impact on daily life and on the exercise of women's rights?
- What conditions are they currently facing?
- How have women's organizations, and especially the feminist movement, responded to this situation?
Speakers
- Claudia García (Colombia)
- Magdalena León (Venezuela)
- Karina Gregory (El Salvador)
Moderator: Mitzy Flores Sequera (Venezuela)
