In the Dominican Republic and the United States, authoritarian leaders are once again building a reactionary political base by promoting a racialized vision of national identity. Categorizing essential and working people as “illegal aliens,” dehumanizing them, kidnapping them, criminalizing them, murdering them, or deporting them also has a long history in the Dominican Republic and the United States.
Enough is enough! This discussion asks: Why again, why now, why do deportations happen globally, what interests do they serve? And, most importantly, how can we contribute and show that migration is a fact and a social good?
