Call for submissions of chapters for the book “Social actors and diverse contexts: Current panorama, prevention and care of STIs and HIV/AIDS in Latin America and the Caribbean”

La Meritorious Autonomous University of Chiapas (UNACH), Faculty of Social Sciences Campus III, and the Working Group “Activisms and Sexual Citizenships: Interdisciplinary Dialogues” of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO) They invite researchers and academics interested in submitting research chapters for the publication of the collective book “Social actors and diverse contexts: Current panorama, prevention and care of STIs and HIV/AIDS in Latin America and the Caribbean”.
The publication, coordinated by the Dr. David Ismael Gutiérrez Gamboa and Dr. Cecilia Alba VillalobosIt seeks to gather research contributions that analyze current challenges related to sexually transmitted infections (STIs), Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS), considering the social processes involved and the experiences of different actors and communities.
The call proposes to reflect on the prevention and care strategies developed in various contexts of Latin America and the Caribbean, with special attention to populations in vulnerable situations, including youth, indigenous communities, populations with dissident sexualities, people who engage in sex work and people who use psychoactive substances.
Unpublished works in Spanish and Portuguese will be accepted that fall within the following thematic areas:
- STIs and HIV-AIDS with hetero-dissident populations.
- STIs and HIV/AIDS among young people.
- STIs and HIV-AIDS in indigenous communities.
- STIs and HIV/AIDS with drug-dependent people.
- STIs and HIV/AIDS from intersectional perspectives.

📅 Results of accepted abstracts: July 18 2026.
Abstracts should be no longer than 300 words and include a title, keywords (3 to 4), author names, and institutional affiliation. Proposals should be sent to the following email address: [email protected]
The selected chapters should be between 15 and 20 pages long and include bibliographic references, tables and images according to the established editorial guidelines.
