Call for articles for the journal Espacio sociológico

The journal Espacio Sociológico, affiliated with the Sociology Program of the National Open University, already
Distance (UNAD), invites students, graduates, teachers, researchers, professionals from the
Social Sciences, organizations and social leaders to participate in issue number 12, aimed at reflecting
on the contemporary dynamics of borders, mobilities and migrations in and from
Latin America and the Caribbean.
We have always migrated, but at this historical moment the region has undergone transformations
significant in human mobility patterns, driven by violence, inequalities, the
impoverishment, socio-environmental disasters, and the resulting lack of opportunities. These
These processes have caused mass displacements and scenarios of high vulnerability, which challenge
both to public policies and to social and community responses.
This issue seeks to highlight critical, situated, and proactive perspectives that allow us to understand the
migrations from interdisciplinary approaches, recognizing the importance of regional cooperation,
human rights and local experiences.
We propose the following topics (not mutually exclusive):
State of the art and conceptualizations on border and cross-border.
Displacement and vulnerable population mobility in Latin America.
Gender, intersectionality, childhood and youth in migratory contexts.
Migration policies in Latin America.
Narratives and representations of migration.
Community and territorial care experiences.
Borders, control and human rights.
Migration and digital practices.
Types of contributions:
Research articles, theoretical reflections, case studies, and literature reviews will be accepted.
Interviews, reviews, and accounts of social intervention are featured. The magazine also includes literary works.
and artistic forms of alternative creative value such as short stories, poetry, music, photography, muralism, among others.
