Call for applications | International election observers – Colombia 2026

In 2026, Colombia will hold legislative (March) and presidential (May) elections. In this context, CLACSO , in collaboration with organizations of the Colombian migrant community, is supporting the call for international electoral observers promoted by the Electoral Observation Mission (MOE).
Considering the interest of the Working Groups and member centers of the CLACSO network in the political and social processes of Latin America and the Caribbean, democracy and the construction of a more just region, researchers and students are invited to actively participate in this electoral process as international observers.
The Colombian electoral process takes place both within the country and abroad, at consular offices, allowing for observation without the need to travel to Colombia , from polling stations designated for Colombian citizens residing outside the country. This participation strengthens international oversight and contributes to the transparency, legality, and legitimacy of the democratic process.
The role of international observer is independent and voluntary , and its objective is to identify and report to the EOM possible irregularities in accordance with current regulations, in order to safeguard democratic guarantees.
Exclusionary requirements
- Be older than 18 years
- Not being a Colombian citizen
- Have academic or professional experience in democracy and political participation
- Availability to participate during the election days (March and May)
- Handling and understanding of the Spanish language
