In 2026, Colombia It will hold legislative elections (March) and presidential elections (May). In this context, CLACSO, in coordination with organizations of the Colombian migrant community, accompanies the Call for international election observers driven by Electoral Observation Mission (EOM).

Considering the interest of the Working Groups and member centers of the CLACSO network In the political and social processes of Latin America and the Caribbean, democracy and the construction of a more just region, researchers and students are invited to actively participate in this electoral process as international observers.

The Colombian electoral process takes place both within the country and abroad, in consular offices, which allows for observation. without needing to travel to ColombiaFrom the polling stations designated for Colombian citizens residing abroad. This participation strengthens international oversight and contributes to the transparency, legality and legitimacy of the democratic process.

The role of international observer is independent and voluntary, and aims to identify and report to the MOE any irregularities in accordance with current regulations, in order to safeguard democratic guarantees.

Exclusionary requirements

• Be older than 18 years
• Not being a Colombian citizen
• Have academic or professional experience in democracy and political participation
• Availability to participate during the election days (March and May)
• Handling and understanding of the Spanish language
