Call for papers for the IX DEMOSAL International Seminar

The research network DEMOSAL (International Seminar on Inequality and Social Mobility in Latin America) calls for the submission of articles to participate in the IX DEMOSAL International Seminar, which will take place from 1 al 3 March 2027 at the Department of Sociology of the University of the Republic, Montevideo, Uruguay.
under the motto "Inequality and social mobility in Latin America: debates, horizons and challenges"The seminar will bring together researchers interested in discussing the main theoretical, methodological and empirical developments on social inequality, stratification and mobility in the region.
The call for papers specifically seeks contributions that offer innovative approaches to the study of socioeconomic inequality and its multiple dimensions. Submissions will be accepted that analyze the formation and transformation of social classes, intra- and intergenerational mobility, and the intersections between inequalities of class, gender, ethnicity, race, and territory in Latin American societies.
The contributions will be organized into seven priority research areas:
- Job.
- Education.
- Social mobility.
- Social stratification.
- Gender.
- Migration.
- Public policy.
📅 Deadline for submitting extended abstracts: 30th October 2026.
Proposals must be submitted in Spanish or English, with a maximum extension of 5.000 wordsincluding information on the research problem, methodology, hypothesis, data sources, analytical tools, and between three and five keywords.
The authors of the accepted works will be notified before the December 15th 2026The organization will award a limited number of subsidies for travel and accommodationprioritizing researchers and doctoral students from Latin America.
