Call for Papers for the Symposium “Transaffirmative Untimeliness II: Epistemic Frictions and Activisms in Research by and about Gender-Diverse People”

In the framework of the Second Chilean Congress of Interdisciplinary Studies on Sexual and Gender DiversityThe call for participation in the symposium is now open. “Transaffirmative Untimeliness II: Epistemic Frictions and Activisms in Research by and about Gender-Diverse People”, which will take place between January 20 and 22, 2027 on the Heritage Campus of Alberto Hurtado University, in Santiago, Chile, with a hybrid format.
This second edition of Transaffirmative untimeliness It seeks to promote a space for critical dialogue between activism, research and trans* studies in Ibero-America, with special attention to the forms of epistemic injustice that affect trans, non-binary and people with diverse gender identities, as well as the strategies of resistance and knowledge production promoted by these communities.
The symposium proposes two main areas of focus:
- Epistemic friction, focused on the analysis of tensions between knowledge, experiences and regimes of knowledge that affect the recognition and legitimation of trans and non-binary voices.
- Epistemic activism, focused on practices of resistance, collective creation, hermeneutic empowerment and production of own resources developed by trans, non-binary and gender-dissident communities.
The call is aimed at researchers, activists, members of social organizations and members of communities interested in reflecting on the processes of knowledge production, the forms of epistemic exclusion and collective strategies for social transformation.

📄 Abstracts should have a maximum length of 250 words and include authorship information, institutional affiliation, email address, title of the work, thematic axis, participation modality and type of presentation.
