Call for Papers | 1st International Congress on Social History, Memory and Education: Horizons for the 21st Century

La Metropolitan University of Educational Sciences (UMCE) invites you to participate in the 1st International Congress of Social History, Memory and Education: Horizons for the 21st Century, an initiative organized by graduates of the Department of History and Geography of UMCE, in conjunction with academics, teachers, popular educators and social organizations from Chile, Argentina and Colombia.

The Congress is intended as a meeting place between academic production, pedagogical practices and territorial experiences, reaffirming the political, ethical and transformative character of education in the face of contemporary challenges: the advance of authoritarian projects, historical denialism, the commodification of education and the deepening of inequalities.


Themes

  1. Social history and collective struggles

  2. Located memories and resistances

  3. Popular education and critical pedagogies

  4. Social sciences, technologies and critical dissemination


Modalities of participation

  • Individual presentations

  • Presentation panels (4 to 5 articulated works)

  • Teaching and community experiences

  • Research workshops and laboratories

Proposals must be submitted exclusively through the official form that will be disseminated through the institutional channels of Congress.

All applications will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee, considering their thematic relevance, conceptual coherence, and pedagogical relevance.


Registration

The registration fee applies only to those participating as speakers:

  • Undergraduate students and unemployed people: Free

  • Members of sponsoring institutions: $5.000 CLP / USD 6

  • Not affiliated with sponsoring institutions: $10.000 CLP / USD 12

The general activities of the Congress will be free and open to the public.
