Academic freedom: an agenda for Latin America and the Caribbean
This Wednesday, July 29th at 16 PM, a new edition of InfoCLACSO, dedicated to debating the right to research, teach and publish in the region.
We will continue to delve deeper into an urgent debate on the current political and university map: The “Academic freedom: a contested right. Who can research, teach, and publish in Latin America?”
This edition represents the second of a special cycle focused on reflecting on the limits, challenges and guarantees of those who produce critical knowledge in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The program reviews and synthesizes the reflections that emerged from an intense regional work agenda developed in early July:
Regional public policy dialogue: The international forum took place on July 1st. "Towards the implementation of the right to academic freedom in Latin America", co-organized by CLACSO, the Coalition for Academic Freedom in the Americas (CLAA) and NORRAG Global Education Centre.
Two years of comparative research: The results of the project were presented on July 2nd and 3rd. "Strengthening comparative research and critical thinking within the framework of academic freedom in the Americas", promoted by CLACSO and CLAA.
Book presentation at the University of Buenos Aires: The volume was presented at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Buenos Aires "Academic Freedom in the Americas: Trends, Challenges and Critical Horizons", a work that brings together the findings of the research teams selected in the first regional call.

The program for Wednesday, July 29th covers one of the main themes of the Platforms for the Dialogue Socials which CLACSO is promoting for the coming years: “Social right to education, public policies and pedagogical alternatives”.
