Wikipedia and the Bicentennial of Central American Independence

Wikipedia and the Bicentennial of Central American Independence

Central America celebrates 200 years of independence in 2021, following the historic transition in 1821 when Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica gained independence from the Kingdom of Spain. Commemorations will be held throughout 2021.

In this context, we ask ourselves: where is the history of Central America? The idea is to highlight the lack of information about the region on Wikipedia and encourage this to change through collaborative contributions on one of the world's most consulted platforms.

Aimed at people with research experience in topics related to Central America and its independence from a historical, sociological, anthropological and/or social point of view.

Registrations open until July 5th.
