Latin American Voices in Politics
The Stanford Latin American Society invites you to the conference “Latin American Voices in Politics” on Saturday, August 14 and Sunday, August 15. Organized by Stanford University students and sponsored by several departments of the same North American institution, the conference seeks to promote dialogue about the future of public policy in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The inaugural conference will explore public health policies with speakers including Francisco Becerra, former Deputy Director of the Pan American Health Organization; Fernando Ruiz Gómez, the Minister of Health in Colombia; and Alexandre Padilha, the former Minister of Health in Brazil; among others.
One of the main objectives is to encourage the participation of students from Caribbean and Latin American universities. Therefore, the conference will be free of charge, with simultaneous translation into Spanish and Portuguese, as most of the speakers will be speaking in English. Students will be able to attend four panels featuring presentations by experts from the Latin American and Caribbean region. Students can also register for workshops designed to provide them with information on the various career paths available in public health policy.
