VIII International Peasant Popular and Interethnic School
On December 12, 13 and 14, the activities of the VIII International Peasant Popular and Interethnic School of the CLACSO Working Group Critical Studies of Rural Development took place , with the participation of members from Mexico, Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay.
Participants in this meeting included members from Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay. Also present were activists and representatives of social movements from the Pampas region countries who are involved in the working groups' activities.
Productive experiences in livestock, viticulture, fruit growing and beekeeping were visited in the Department of Rivera (Uruguay), spaces for exchange were generated with artisanal fisherwomen, quilombola communities and Afro-descendants, family livestock farmers from the three countries of the pampa biome.
As part of the "II International Congress on the Pampa Biome. From the rights of nature to climate catastrophes" the Working Group participated in the various panels, debates and cultural spaces that the Congress offered at the headquarters of the Federal University of Pampa (UNIPAMPA).
As part of the in-person activities of the La Pampa school, the closing ceremony of the International Seminar "Right to Land in Latin America. Cross-border Visions" was held, organized by the CLACSO Working Group on Critical Studies of Rural Development , in which students from Brazilian universities and public tertiary institutes from Uruguay participated.
Also present was the public presentation of the first "Accreditation of Knowledge" certificate from Uruguayan educational institutions to a rural worker descended from native peoples, on "Rational Horsemanship": Roberto Nelly Rivero, a prestigious horseman from the entire Pampas region of the subcontinent.
