Virtual video conference “Regional Debates on Science Assessment”. Launch of the series of documents on Science Assessment from the CLACSO FOLEC

On Tuesday, July 28, the virtual meeting “Regional Debates on Science Assessment” took place as part of the launch of the series of documents “Towards a Transformation of Science Assessment in Latin America and the Caribbean.” The opening remarks were delivered by Mario Pecheny, Vice President of CONICET; Karina Batthyány, Executive Director of CLACSO; and Pablo Vommaro, Director of Research at CLACSO. Fernanda Beigel, a researcher at CONICET and UNCUYO, then presented the documents.

A group of leading specialists from the Ibero-American region enriched the debate through their contributions on various dimensions of the topic, moderated by Dominique Babini and Laura Rovelli. Participants included Elea Giménez Toledo, Rosalba Casas, Verónika Sieglin, Cecilia Rikap, Gerardo Caetano, Gabriel Vélez Cuartas, and Hebe Vessuri, who delivered the closing remarks.

More than 300 people participated in the event through CLACSO's networks; among others, authorities and specialists in Science and Technology and in Higher Education from organizations and institutions in the region, directors of centers, researchers, editors of scientific journals and the general public.

We greatly appreciate your support for the proposal and will remain in contact at future meetings to broaden the debate and agreements aimed at transforming the evaluation of science in our region.

We also invite you to share and spread this video and the FOLEC materials.
