VI Latin American Congress of Political Ecology

From August 5 to 8, 2026, the VI Latin American Congress of Political Ecology was held at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP), under the motto " Political ecology facing the new challenges of the civilizational crisis ".

The VI Congress brought together specialists, researchers and activists from various countries in the region who analyzed and shared ideas for solutions to problems such as the loss of biodiversity, the advance of extractivism and illegal economies, among other issues.

The program brought together discussion tables, panels and workshops, promoting the exchange between academic knowledge, territorial knowledge and experiences of resistance.

The CLACSO Working Group on Political Ecologies from the South/Abya Yala co-organized the event with various institutions and collectives, including Human Rights and Environment (DHUMA), Rural Educational Services Association (SER), Institute of Andean Cultures Studies (IDECA), Law, Environment and Natural Resources (DAR), the Consortium for Health, Environment and Development (ECOSAD), the Ecological Agriculture Network, the National Human Rights Coordinator (CNDDHH), the Muqui Network, the Institute of Social Science Research of the UNJ, the Heinrich Böll Foundation (Santiago, Chile), as well as the Economics program of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, among other organizations.
