Uruguay, on the eve of the presidential elections in October

Uruguayan historian and political scientist Gerardo Caetano spoke with CLACSO Radio and CLACSO TV about the primary elections in his country and the prospects for the presidential election on October 27. He anticipates that “A very special circumstance could arise, where the next government faces real difficulties in governing, whether the opposition or the Broad Front wins. Because winning is one thing, but then you have to govern.”

Caetano, a former member of the CLACSO Board of Directors, is a researcher at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of the Republic and the UNESCO Center of Montevideo and a member of the National Academy of Letters of Uruguay.
