Alberto Hurtado University – Chile
Paulette Landon Carrillo, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences
The Faculty of Social Sciences at Alberto Hurtado University was established in 2006 with the aim of creating an academic community that generates knowledge through cutting-edge research. It also seeks to contribute to the training of new professionals and promote innovation in disciplinary and professional practice by analyzing sociocultural transformations in Chile, thereby contributing to the discussion and improvement of living conditions and social cohesion through community engagement.
The Faculty's mission is to address the challenges facing Chilean, Latin American, and global society from the disciplinary field of social sciences. This task is to be carried out with intellectual rigor and a plurality of perspectives, in order to build knowledge that provides innovative solutions, accurate social communication, and forms of social intervention relevant to societal problems, especially for the most vulnerable. Likewise, its mission is to train outstanding professionals who understand their academic or professional practice as an opportunity to serve society. This mission is inspired by a person-centered perspective and oriented toward building a more just and democratic society.
