Work, production models and social actors

El CLACSO Working Group on Work, Production Models and Social Actors It draws on a rich tradition of research, publication and outreach in the field of labor studies in Latin America.

Its initial antecedents are found in the Labor Movements Commission of CLACSO, which later became the Study Group on “Work, subjects and labor organizations”, a direct reference of our GT.

The researchers in this group come from different countries in the region and investigate work in its multiple expressions and levels. Thus, valuable contributions can be made on topics such as labor flexibility, production restructuring, labor relations, unionism, processes of precarization, identity and subjectivity, technological change, occupational health and safety, and workplace hazards, to name just a few.

The group's ongoing challenges involve reflecting on its epistemological, theoretical, and methodological foundations; its articulation with social and trade union movements; and dialogue with other fields of knowledge such as migration studies, gender, youth, organizations, among others.

With the purpose of developing knowledge from a critical, updated, pluralistic perspective and linked to the search for democracy and justice in the workplace, as well as greater dignity for workers, the GT's action is carried out according to the following axes:

• Knowledge production through different resources and products.
• Dissemination of knowledge.
• Collaboration with science and technology organizations, NGOs, social and trade union movements.
• Linkages with international academic networks.
