Weaving knowledge from the community

The book “ Weaving knowledge from the community. Practices in research and training in Andean agroecological systems ”, co-published with the McKnight Foundation and coordinated by Pablo Vommaro and Karina Bidaseca , takes us into the struggles, the onslaughts and the creative resistances that weave the day-to-day life of agroecological systems in Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador.

Through a collective lens, the work brings to light the socio-ecological networks that are emerging against the grain in the territory, revitalizing healthy production and consumption from the very roots of what is local. Far from understanding "what is local" as something static or frozen in time, this text approaches it as a living process of ethnogenesis.

It reveals how Andean communities transform adversity into concrete responses—some modest, others profoundly enlightened—to pave the way for a more just, sustainable, and desirable present and future. Essential reading for understanding agroecology as an act of memory, dignity, and life in motion.
