Weaving Networks: HIV Seen Through 14 Latin American Activists is a choral book, a carousel of anecdotes, stories, opinions and analyses about one of the great pandemics of our time: AIDS.
Forty years after the first clinical description of cases of what became known as Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome, we find ourselves at an opportune moment to view this pandemic with greater perspective. This is undoubtedly the ideal time to discuss HIV, and who better than the activists of our region to tell us about the despair and ostracism they have endured? But also, to hear how, despite the stigma and limitations, they managed to find solutions, come together, organize, and create a better future for new generations. This book is a testament to the fact that it is impossible to write about HIV without engaging with activist movements, their networks, and their organizations.
