Weaving communities for a liberating pedagogy of Our America

From January 28 to 30, the Juárez Theater in Oaxaca, Mexico, hosted the “Fifth International Congress on Education: Popular Education“under the motto”Weaving communities for a liberating pedagogy of Our America”, a meeting space for popular educators, social movements, communities and pedagogical experiences from Latin America and other regions of the world.

The event featured the participation of international leaders in popular education, including Pablo Vommaro (executive director of CLACSO), Dora Barrancos, Lola Cendales, Marco Raúl Mejía, Peter McLaren, Gabriela rivadeneira, Fernando Santana, Williana Angelo, Graciela Messina, Valeria Vasconcelos, among many other educators and intellectuals committed to the emancipatory processes of the region, as well as members of the CLACSO Working Group “Popular Education and Critical Pedagogies”.

With an in-person format, the Congress proposed to think about and experience education from the perspective of practices, community knowledge, and social struggles, strengthening critical and popular pedagogical networks.
