Solidarity with the people of Venezuela in the face of the seismic emergency
From the Latin American Council of Social Sciences, we express our deep sorrow and our absolute solidarity with the brotherly people of Venezuela after the devastating earthquakes of magnitudes 7,2 and 7,5 that shook the country last Wednesday, June 24, with a tragic toll of fatalities, hundreds of injured and incalculable material losses.
We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and express our heartfelt support to the communities of Caracas, Morón, the state of La Guaira and all the affected regions that today face moments of profound anguish and reconstruction.
True to our Latin American and Caribbean vocation, CLACSO recognizes and supports the immense work of the rescue teams, health professionals, community brigades and civil society organizations that work tirelessly in debris removal and emergency response.
We urgently call upon the international community, the governments of the region, and cooperation agencies to coordinate efforts with the authorities in Caracas and activate the necessary solidarity mechanisms immediately and without conditions, prioritizing the life and dignity of the affected people.
The history of our region has taught us that solidarity and collective action are the fundamental pillars to stand up to the most complex adversities.
