 ImpactU National Bibliographic System: Colombia

Colombia has taken a historic step in scientific knowledge management with the launch of Latin America's first automated national bibliographic system, developed by ImpactU as a new service of its national CRIS (Center for Research and Innovation in Science). This infrastructure was designed to comprehensively describe the multiple sources through which Colombian researchers publish their academic and scientific output, linking information from individuals and institutions both in Colombia and around the world.

The system allows for a comprehensive survey of the Colombian scientific communication ecosystem from a national perspective, integrating scientific journals, internationally recognized sources, electronic book platforms, editorial series, institutional repositories, and conference proceedings. Furthermore, each source includes a complete list of products published by Colombian researchers, creating an interoperable, reusable, and accessible environment for different platforms and information systems.

With this development, Colombia becomes the first country in Latin America to have a national bibliographic infrastructure of this kind, aimed not only at providing full visibility into where Colombian research circulates, but also at strengthening a more open, connected, and sovereign science. This initiative joins other regional open science efforts such as La Referencia, Redalyc, Latindex, SciELO, and BRCRIS, contributing to the strengthening of open knowledge infrastructures in Latin America.

Currently, the system brings together more than 2,5 million academic and scientific products and over 39 registered institutions. Those wishing to explore this new tool can access ImpactU's national bibliographic system through the platform available at: https://impactu.colav.co/.
