Latin American System of University Evaluation
El Latin American System of University Evaluation (SILEU) A comprehensive academic quality assessment process is proposed for undergraduate and graduate programs in the Social Sciences and Humanities. This is envisioned as a phased implementation plan that aims to establish a specific evaluation framework for the Social Sciences and Humanities, ultimately leading to the creation of a Certification and/or Accreditation Agency.
The criteria that guide the quality assessment process are based on the following cross-cutting axes of analysis:
- Production and circulation of critical Latin American and Caribbean knowledge, questioning social reality and oriented towards the construction of more just and egalitarian societies;
- Encouragement of cooperative and solidarity practices at the intra- and inter-institutional level;
- Detection and reduction of inequalities – gender, ethnicity, social class, etc.;
- I promote democratization practices from a comprehensive perspective: participation in spaces for political discussion, governing bodies, and the circulation of public knowledge.
The dynamics of the process are based on the principle of exchange, dialogue and agreement between the institution that will guide the evaluation (CLACSO), the peer group and the evaluated university institution, so that the actions result from the consensus and agreement between the parties.
Consequently, the purpose of the evaluation is to contribute to the improvement of university careers in Social Sciences and Humanities, understanding the evaluation process in terms of the non-punitive support of university institutions and actors.
