Second Latin American Congress of Gender and Care Studies
From Wednesday, March 19 to Friday, March 21, the “Center for Demographic, Urban and Environmental Studies” (CRIM) of El Colegio de México and the CLACSO Working Group “Care and Gender” invite the Second Latin American Congress of Gender and Care Studies, Theoretical-methodological debate on care in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The inauguration was attended by Karina Batthyány (Executive Director of CLACSO), Edith Pacheco (Professor-Researcher, Center for Demographic, Urban and Environmental Studies, El Colegio de México and Coordinator of the Congress) and Patricio Solís (Academic Secretary, El COLMEX). Moderation: Christina Herrera (Professor-Researcher, Center for Gender Studies, El Colegio de México).
The first panel dealt with: “Theoretical and methodological debates on care(s)In his intervention, Karina Batthyány She emphasized that “Latin America and the Caribbean have made fundamental theoretical contributions to the issue of care. But much remains to be researched and debated in order to build sustainable care systems that guarantee the well-being of everyone in our countries.” She was accompanied by Edith Pacheco y Mercedes Pedrero (Researcher, CRIM UNAM), moderated by Christina Herrera.
The objective of the Congress is to follow up on the development of conceptualizations and reflections that allow the analysis of care in the Latin American reality based on the contributions of regional and international researchers; seeking to strengthen and consolidate academic research.
Thematic areas: Theoretical and conceptual debates on care / Social Organization of Care / Challenges and methodological reflections for the measurement of care / Public policies and care.
