El CLACSO Working Group on Poverty and Social Policies presents Mexican Journal of Sociology, number 1-2023: Special Issue. Inequality and poverty in the context of the pandemic where four articles resulting from the Forum were published Rethinking welfare and social policies post-pandemic within the framework of the 9th Latin American and Caribbean Conference of Social Sciences.

The ideas that guide this important editorial production are, firstly, that the pandemic is not only a health problem but also, and perhaps mainly, a social phenomenon in the strictest sense of the term; secondly, that in addition to an enormous human tragedy, the pandemic is also an unparalleled opportunity to study society.
